Foals!

Foaling season has officially arrived at Simple Little Farm! As exciting as it is, there is always a bit of anxiety and anticipation connected with foaling season. We do our best to be as prepared as possible but there is always the what if scenarios.

We were able to get a new barn camera set up that has a 360 degree feature which I'm super excited about. Having a camera allows me to check on the mamas during the night rather than having to go outside to check on them. It has been a lifesaver!

Serenity had been showing some signs of being close though she was a few days early from her "due date." We had some really cold weather in the forecast so we decided to put her in the stall for the night. I checked on her through the camera at 11 p.m. before going to bed and she appeared to be in labor!

Sure enough, when I got to the barn she was already pushing and in just a few minutes, a healthy foal was squirming on the ground! So glad I didn't need to intervene! We had a feeling it was a boy due to the size and we were correct. Welcome Stanley!

We put a jacket on the foals for the first 24 hours if it's really cold. This night got down to 20 degrees!

He is an energetic, super friendly fella. He has his mama's big ears and stunning dark features. He will make a very fun pet for some lucky family!

Already buddies with our little dude.
