Look at the Flowers!

I have to confess I have an obsession besides miniature donkeys; flowers. I have discovered one of the necessities in my life are flowers. Whenever I have a little extra cash on hand or I'm gifted some money for my birthday, I generally avoid buying things for myself like shoes and clothes and opt to take a trip to the nearest greenhouse. I undoubtedly come home with some new plant. It is therapy for my soul!

Sweet peas have the most incredible fragrance! They are a must have in my garden.

In the two homes that we have purchased, both were lacking in any flower beds. My goal was to rip out grass and chop down trees in order to create a flower garden. And that is exactly what I have done. Currently I have one large perennial flower garden that surrounds my home. It was once juniper shrubs, an old stump, a very large spruce tree and dead grass.

Now it is a lush collection of flowers that I have transplanted from friends and family. It may look like a hodge-podge mess but to me it is memories of certain individuals who have sparked in me a love of flowers.

*This front area had a huge spruce tree that was discouraging any lawn around it from growing. We chopped it down and have filled in the area with perennials and shrubs.

Our garden was a large space with no border and a lot of weeds. Now it is bordered with railroad ties and flowers.

Surrounding my vegetable garden is my annual border. Only 18 inches wide, it can still pack some beauties!

I love to cut a new flower arrangement each week and experiment with a variety of color combinations. It is a delightful hobby and one that I love to share with others! I have yet to meet someone that doesn't like to receive a lovely, fresh flower arrangement!
