He has now arrived! After several years of waiting and searching and hoping, John Deere has finally joined our Simple Little Farm.
Whenever I would go out and do heavy work with the shovel, I couldn't help but dream of having a tractor to help ease things up a bit. We'd had a neighbor come over a time or two with his backhoe to remove some trees and stumps and it was unbelievable how quickly he had the work finished! I knew I needed a tractor. Nothing big or new or fancy. Small and functional, reliable, and with a front bucket were the only requirements.

They are not easy to find! A friend of ours is somewhat of a machinery collector so we asked him to help us find a compact little tractor and he delivered!
Enter the 1960's classic green and yellow Mr. John Deere. After a few tune-ups and tweaks, we were ready to go to work.

We've only had this for about a month and I'm already wondering how I ever lived without it. I love it! It makes turning our manure piles a breeze (a smelly breeze, but a breeze nonetheless!). I don't mind some physical hard work, but there are times when I sit back and appreciate the modern machinery that makes life a bit easier.
